Searching for AI courses after 12th? Here is something nobody tells you: AI is not only for science students. Commerce students can do it. And yes — arts students can do it too. In this post I will show the real options for ALL three streams, with fees, durations, and honest advice.
Every year after the HS results, the same scene repeats at our centre.
Science students come with confidence. Commerce students come with doubt. And arts students? Many do not come at all.
Because somewhere, somebody told them: “AI? Sheta to science-er bepar.” (That is a science matter.)
This is one of the biggest lies in our education market. Today I will break it, stream by stream.
AI Courses After 12th: First Understand the Two Doors
Before choosing any course, understand this. After 12th, AI has two doors:
- Door 1: The Degree Door. B.Tech in AI/ML — 4 years, entrance exams, science background needed, ₹4 lakh and above. This door leads to AI engineer jobs.
- Door 2: The Skill Door. Short AI tools courses — 3 to 6 months, no entrance exam, no stream restriction, ₹10,000 to 40,000. This door leads to AI-powered jobs in content, design, marketing, and office work.
Door 1 is only for science students. Door 2 is open for EVERYONE — science, commerce, arts.
And here is the part that surprises people: Door 2 is not the “lesser” door. It is simply a different door, leading to different jobs. Most offices today need people from Door 2, not Door 1.
For Science Students: You Have Both Doors
If you took PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths), you can choose either door.
Option A: B.Tech in AI/ML. Give WBJEE or JEE Main, get a college like Heritage, IEM, Techno India, or Brainware. Four years, ₹4–9.5 lakh total. Choose this only if you genuinely enjoy maths and coding — not because relatives say “engineer howa bhalo”. You can check exam details on the official WBJEE Board website.
Option B: Regular graduation + AI tools course. Do B.Sc or BCA, and alongside it, do a 3-month AI tools course. You graduate with a degree PLUS a modern skill. This combination costs far less and works brilliantly for jobs.
Honest advice: a B.Tech AI seat bought with donation money, at a college with weak placements, is a worse deal than Option B. The degree name matters less than what you can actually do.
For Commerce Students: AI Is Your Secret Weapon
Commerce students often feel stuck between B.Com and “some computer course”. Here is the better picture.
Think about what commerce leads to — accounts, banking, business, marketing. Now think about what AI tools do best — reports, Excel work, business content, customer communication, advertisements.
See the match? AI tools sit PERFECTLY on top of commerce skills.
The winning combination: B.Com (regular) + 3-month AI tools course + basic Excel. A B.Com graduate who can make AI-powered reports and business content stands far ahead of a plain B.Com graduate. Same college fees, one small extra course, double the job value.
Later, if business interests you, AI-powered digital marketing is a natural next step.
For Arts Students: The Section Nobody Writes
Now the most important section of this post. If you are an arts student, read this twice.
You have been told your whole life that computers and technology are “not for you”. Meanwhile, here is what actually happens in the AI world:
- AI runs on language. The main skill of using AI is writing clear instructions (prompts). Who is trained in language, expression, and ideas? Arts students.
- Content jobs are exploding. Every business needs writing, social media, and creative ideas. These jobs go to people who think creatively — not to people who know maths.
- History, geography, political science students are often excellent at research and explanation — exactly what AI-assisted content work needs.
Your path: B.A. in your favourite subject (keep the degree, it matters for many jobs) + 3-month AI tools course alongside. By second year of college, you can be earning from content and design work while your classmates are still “thinking about the future”.

One request about the last row. Skipping college completely is risky — many jobs and government forms still ask for graduation. If you are a parent reading this, I understand your worry. New things always look risky.
So let me say it in familiar terms. Twenty years ago, parents who put their children in “computer courses” alongside college — those children got the office jobs. Parents who said “computer diye ki hobe” — their children learned it anyway, ten years late, with ten years of lost opportunity.
AI today is exactly where computers were then. It is not a replacement for college. It is the extra skill that makes the college degree work in today’s market.
And the investment is small — a one-time ₹10,000–40,000, not lakhs. Less than one year of private tuition fees.

Can arts students really do AI courses after 12th?
Yes — AI tools courses have no stream restriction. Arts students cannot take the B.Tech door (that needs PCM), but the skill door is fully open, and honestly, arts students often perform better in content and creative AI work than science students.
Is there any AI course after 12th without entrance exam?
Yes. All AI tools courses and most private certificate courses have no entrance exam. Only B.Tech degrees need WBJEE / JEE Main ranks.
Should I take a gap year to learn AI?
