2. Government + Google AI Certification Programme
A bigger programme from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in collaboration with Google and YouTube — structured coursework, practical assignments, module certificates through Google’s learning platforms, and a joint final certificate. Completely free.
My honest review: More serious and more valuable than a basic intro course — and more demanding. Note the discipline requirement: the foundation phase typically has a time limit (around two weeks) to stay in the programme. If you tend to enrol and forget, this one will drop you. If you can stay regular, the Google + Government combination on a certificate is strong.
3. Skill India Digital Courses
The Skill India platform offers free AI-related short courses from time to time — including generative AI basics and Microsoft Copilot training — with certificates.
My honest review: Useful bite-sized additions after your first course. Offerings change often, so check what is currently open rather than expecting one fixed course.
4. SWAYAM (Government MOOC Platform)
On SWAYAM, university-level courses — including AI and computing subjects from IITs and other institutions — are free to LEARN.
My honest review — with one important catch: learning is free, but the proctored certificate exam usually has a fee (commonly around ₹1,000). So “free with certificate” is only 90% true here. Also, these are proper academic courses — heavier and more theoretical than tool-based courses. Better for students who enjoy structured study.
5. Google’s Own Free AI Learning

Now the part that most “free course” articles skip, because they earn from your clicks, not your success.
