1. What you actually learn. Using AI tools (ChatGPT, Canva, prompt writing) is a 3-month skill. Building AI with Python and maths is a 1–2 year skill. Deeper skill = longer course = higher fee. This part is fair.
2. Brand name. A university or famous institute name on the certificate costs extra. Sometimes worth it for your CV, sometimes just an expensive sticker.
3. City and building. An institute in a Salt Lake tower pays huge rent. Guess who pays that rent finally? The students. A good teacher in a simple building teaches the same ChatGPT.
4. Marketing cost. Those Instagram ads and celebrity promotions you see? Their cost is inside your fee. Some big ed-tech companies spend more on ads than on teachers.
5. “Placement” packaging. Many high fees are justified with the word “placement”. Sometimes real, often just interview tips and a WhatsApp group of job links. Always ask: “Placement means WHAT exactly? Show me.”
So What Should YOU Really Pay?
Simple rule: pay according to your goal, not according to your fear.
Goal 1: Use AI for jobs, business, freelancing (most people). Fair price: ₹10,000 – 40,000 for a 3–6 month guided course. Anything above ₹50,000 for a no-coding tools course is overpriced — you are paying for their ads, not your education.
Goal 2: Technical AI / Data Science job. Fair price: ₹50,000 – 1.5 lakh for a solid Python-based program with real projects. Above that, demand proof — placement records with names, not posters.

Goal 4: Just exploring, not sure yet. Pay ₹0. Seriously. Use free ChatGPT and free YouTube for one month first. If you stay regular for a month, then invest in a course. If you quit in a week, you just saved your money.

Never take a big loan for a short AI course.
Some companies push ₹1–3 lakh courses on 12–24 month EMI to families who cannot afford them. The sales script is always the same: “Sir, it is an investment in your child’s future.”
Listen. An investment has proof. A degree over 4 years with placement records — that can justify a loan. A 6-month certificate course? If it needs a loan, it is too expensive for you. Full stop.
